Bob wanted to use the Speedchek Sports Radar Unit to clock the speed of 1/4 scale RC sprint cars. Bob got his unit and was having trouble getting good consistent reading. I asked him if he could hang the unit over the track, and point the unit down just a bit. This is his response.

I bet your not surprised to hear that the Speedchek radar works! On Sunday I tried the unit above the track, as you suggested. It was approx 3ft off the track surface and 4ft in from start/finish line fence, at the end of the main straight. I aimed it along straight, angled towards the exit of turn 4 and had perfect results every time a car went under it. Sometimes difficult to read in direct sun-light. I will make a small shade box to keep sun off face. One question. What's the spread of the beam? Is it a constant width or does it widen over a longer distance?

You may be interested to know that the fastest speed attained by a 1/4 scale sprint car on the day was 47 kilometers per hour!! A little slower than was expected. but now there are no arguments!

The signal size coming out of the unit is approx. 60 degrees vertical by 40 degrees horizontal and the signal projects from the unit like a flashlight beam, widening and decreasing in strength with distance.

I set up a netted three sided canopy and charged money to know speed of kicked balls. It worked great every time and have been doing this for two weeks.

Hello there. I received the Speedchek this past Friday and got a chance to test it out on Saturday evening. It seemed to work very well, especially on measuring ground strokes hit from slightly inside the baseline. I varied the position to see how the readings compared and here are the locations:

I think the Speedchek is very accurate from comparing other results in the past. I'll be using it again later this week to let my friends give it a try and after using it, they may want to order one of their own!

We did get our Speedchek in time. We picked it up at the FedEx delivery drop off and were able to use it this weekend. Thanks for all of your help in getting it to us so quickly. We loved it. It works well and was a big hit with the kids.

I purchased a Speedchek gun about three weeks ago and my son loves it!!! My problem is that we have lost the instruction booklet. Would it be possible to e-mail us a copy or send us one. I would really appreciate it.
